Mapping the road

Of all things in the story of the One Ring, travel and being on the road is one of the main themes. Some of those who are trying to find their way toward the next town, village or camp make a map of their journey so others might find their way more easily.
The Robe of Viisaus used in this outfit is now available in the Lotro Store, but it is quite easily obtained ingame by following the Epic questline Vol. I to Book XIII. It is one of the better robes to have as a cosmetic because of the way it can be dyed, as any dye colour that you apply will become quite intense and different from the usual colour. The Map-maker’s Travel Pack and Boots are skirmish reward cosmetics, though the Travel Pack is also available from the store.

Head: Pointed Hat, red dye

Chest: Robe of Viisaus, red dye

Hands: Elven Cotton Gloves, black dye

Feet: Brushed Leather Boots, black dye

Back: Map-maker’s Travel Pack, black dye

Digging in the dirt

Precious metals abound in Middle Earth but you need the right tools to dig them up and a sturdy backpack to carry them home.
I really like this particular backpack, which is a crafted cosmetic item, so I made an outfit to match it. Nothing fancy, just something practical to wear on a treasure hunt.

Chest: Treasure-Hunter’s Armour, umber dye (crafted)

Head: Cotton Hat, navy dye,  (crafted)

Hands: Leather Gauntlets, umber dye (Esteldin Medium Armour Smith)

Legs: Westernesse Leather Leggings, Evendim blue dye (crafted)

Feet: Brushed Leather Boots, umber dye (skirmish cosmetic)

Back: Elven Prospector’s Pack, navy dye (crafted cosmetic)

Crimson flushes

This afternoon (well, European afternoon that is), the EU servers are down for the much anticipated patch that will hopefully fix the migration problems that so many are having. Just before the servers came down, I managed to get a few shots.
This robe is one from a quest, but the same model is available elsewhere, among others it is part of the Great Barrow light armour set. The inside of the sleeves will always remain green, no matter what colour you dye it. You don’t notice it while your arms are down, only when they are lifted.

Chest: Corunir’s Robe, crimson dye (quest)

Shoulders: Campaigner’s Shoulder Guards, crimson dye (crafted)

Hands: Elven Cotton Gloves, crimson dye (crafted)

Feet: Brushed Leather Boots, crimson dye (skirmish cosmetic)

Back: Cloak of the West-tower, crimson dye (Annúminas barter)

Breeland adventure

Bree is a town that eventually every player will have to visit. Regardless of how many characters you have levelled already and despite how well you know your way around Bree by now, the Mayor invariably sends you off on a tour through Bree to get acquainted with the facilities in town and reward you with your first reputation points. After the tour you may proceed to quest your way through the lands surrounding the town: Breeland. If you work hard at killing lots of wights in the Barrow-downs, collect their treasures and hand them over at the Hunting Lodge in Bree, you will eventually make it to kindred standing. The return to Bree skill is very handy, but the faction also offers a couple of other goodies to collect: a nice cloak, a lovely backpack, recipes and just like other factions, a horse. Unfortunately the horse is really nothing special to look at. It’s great if you are roleplaying a rugged ranger or poor vagabond, but other than that it lacks the specialness of other faction horses. On top of that, it shares its appearance with the Bree Starter Horse, which is available for 200 silvers at the Hengstacer Farm, so if you are merely looking for the skin and don’t mind the slower speed, you might as well get that one in stead of spending 5 gold on the Prized horse. I am still hoping Turbine will add another Bree horse in the future, or make this one look a bit more classy.
The cloak in this outfit is available at kindred status from the Bree vendor outside the Hunting Lodge. The same design is also available as “Golodir’s Cloak” from Volume I, book 14.

Head: Traveller’s Hood, olive dye (store exclusive cosmetic)

Chest: Plain Hauberk, olive dye (gift box cosmetic)

Hands: Leather Gauntlets, olive dye (medium armour smith)

Feet: Brushed Leather Boots, olive dye (skirmish cosmetic)

Back: Cloak from the Men of Bree, default dye (Bree kindred reputation)

Horse: Prized Liver Chestnut Steed (Bree kindred reputation) -or- Bree Horse (Hengstacer Farm)

Rogue trader

The rogue is a stealthy hunter. A man that blends in with the shadows of the forest, pursuing his enemy with throwing knives and arrows. He is skilled at the bow and relies on the element of surprise for his success. At noontide he behaves like any other visitor to the nearest town. He makes his trades and acts like a perfect gentleman, only to disappear again at dusk. After dark, his blades are swift and effective.

Chest: Shirriff’s Hauberk, black dye (outfitter cosmetic Michel Delving)

Hands: Leather Gauntlets, black dye (medium armour smith Esteldin)

Feet: Brushed Leather Boots, black dye (skirmish cosmetic)

Back: Cloak of Vigilance, black dye (lotro store cosmetic)

Horse: Prized Mathom Society Horse (kindred Mathom Society or Lotro Store)

Rugged adventure

I’m enjoying another week off work and find myself with lots of time to play Lotro, as there isn’t much else to do around here at the moment. I am levelling my lore-master and at level 55 she is still questing in Eregion! My aim is to do as little Moria as possible this time around, as I already took two characters through it and am not a big fan of the mines, so I’m trying to level as close to 56 as possible, then do all the Volume II books, and then move on to Lothlorien. On the road, she wears appropriate attire.

If you want to know where a certain armour piece or cosmetic comes from, you can look it up in the Lorebook, by typing its name into the search box. You can equip any piece of armour cosmetically through the wardrobe, even armour that is not meant for your class or level.

Head: Traveller’s Hood, burgundy dye (Lotro store exclusive, cosmetic)
Chest : Rugged Adventurer’s Robe, burgundy dye (Lotro store exclusive, cosmetic)
Shoulders: Pauldrons of the Wandering Bard, burgundy dye (Ettenmoors barter, minstrel rank 3)
Hands: Leather Bracers of the Gentle Stag, burgundy dye (Dunland quest reward, light)
Feet: Brushed Leather Boots, white dye (skirmish, cosmetic)
